Before first loading, clean seats
Assist loading passengers.
Prepare to notify “yard master” of available seats.
Wait for Conductor’s message to close gates and release brakes.
Lift flipper boards on loading platforms, lock gates (on car 101 only) and verify flipper boards on unloading side are up.
Release brakes.
Notify conductor car is ready to depart.
To avoid missed communications between car hosts and conductor, car host on 100 should respond first, followed by car hosts on 101, 200 and 201.
Continuously monitor passenger’s behavior for safety issues throughout the trip.
Wait until train passes Bonsal Crossing before collecting tickets.
Get the car count and pass it to the next car.
When the train stops at New Hill, wait for signal from engineer and set hand brake.
Notify conductor that brake is set.
After the engine is coupled and brake test is complete, wait for conductor’s message to release hand brakes.
Notify conductor that brake is released.
Continuously monitor passenger’s behavior for safety issues throughout the trip.
When the train stops at Bonsal, wait for signal from engineer and set hand brake.
Notify conductor that brake is set.

Notify conductor when all passengers have exited the car
Lift unloading flipper board.
Wait for conductor to announce to begin loading passengers.
The conductor may opt to couple new engine to 201 before loading passengers.
